Koken Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance LM-111GM
Koken Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance LM-111GM
Koken's Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance is a full-body model made of silicone rubber for training neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (NCPR) and initial newborn care. It extends the previous model with heart and breath sounds as well as crying – controlled wirelessly from a tablet that at the same time serves as a simulated monitor for heart rate and oxygen saturation.
This way you train not only the individual manoeuvres but the complete sequence of initial newborn care: assessing, auscultating, ventilating, compressing – and communicating as a team under the pressure of a continuously crying baby. Because key elements of the U1 newborn examination (the first routine check in Germany) can also be demonstrated on the same model, one simulator covers both emergency and routine training.
Who is the Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance for?
- Delivery suite and newborn teams with regular NCPR training
- Neonatology and paediatric intensive care nursing
- Providers of NLS, NRP and resuscitation courses
- Midwifery education, nursing schools and universities
- Emergency medical services and emergency physicians whose remit includes birth
What can the Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance help you to train?
- Performing resuscitation (NCPR) with chest compressions and palpating the xiphoid process
- Ventilating with the bag valve mask and seeing the chest rise
- Securing the airway with a tracheal tube or a laryngeal mask
- Recognizing one-sided intubation from the right lung rising when the tube sits too deep
- Suctioning via the mouth and nose
- Auscultating heart and breath sounds on the chest
- Placing the umbilical venous catheter
- Determining the heart rate from the palpable pulsation at the base of the umbilical cord
- Reading heart rate and oxygen saturation on the tablet in monitor mode
- Teaching correct holding and basic care of the newborn
- Raising the stress level in the scenario through continuous crying
What does the simulator bring to your everyday training?
- Sounds instead of announcements: heart sounds, breath sounds, crying and grunting come from the model. Your learners genuinely auscultate instead of being told a finding.
- The tablet in two roles: in remote-control mode you control heart rate, breathing and crying (60 or 100 breaths per minute), grunting, oxygen saturation, plethysmograph and volume; in monitor mode the same tablet becomes a simulated monitor. You do not need an additional patient monitor.
- Realistic feel: the body is made of silicone rubber and feels like a real newborn when held and positioned.
- Less ongoing consumable costs: the simulator runs on four AA batteries and without fluids.
- Mobile: 50 cm in length, 2.5 kg in weight and a storage bag included – suitable for in-situ training and for moving between course venues.
- One model for two learning areas: emergency training and the routine of newborn assessment can both be covered on the same simulator.
What's included
- Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance
- Storage bag
- Instructions for use
- Not included: tablet, four AA batteries and silicone spray as a lubricant
What the simulator is not intended for
So that you can plan the simulator into your curriculum appropriately, here are the limits of the model:
- Bathing and water contact – the simulator must not be bathed
- Administering fluids through the umbilical venous catheter; the access has no drainage function
- Control from an iPhone or iPad – the app is designed for Android
- Rhythm interpretation – the ECG display in monitor mode follows the heart rate that has been set and is not a substitute for rhythm interpretation
Frequently asked questions about the Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator Advance
Can elements of the U1 be demonstrated with the simulator?
In our assessment yes, namely the parts that depend on assessment and measurement: auscultation of the heart and lungs, inspection and assessment of posture while holding, checking the umbilical cord and umbilical cord care, and monitoring heart rate and oxygen saturation via monitor mode. What cannot be reproduced is everything that requires a response from the baby – reflex testing, hip ultrasound and hearing screening.
How does the Advance version differ from the previous model?
The Advance version adds heart sounds, breath sounds and vocal sounds to the existing model, along with tablet control including monitor mode. All previous functions – ventilation, intubation, chest compression, suctioning and umbilical venous catheter – are retained.
Which tablet do I need for the simulator?
An Android tablet from version 5.0 with at least 2 GB of memory and a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels or higher. The app is installed via Google Play and the connection runs over Bluetooth 5.0. The tablet is not included. Status Oct. 2026
How long do the batteries last?
The simulator runs on four AA batteries. When they are low, a red indicator light comes on; after that the simulator remains ready for use for about two more hours.
How is the simulator cleaned?
The surfaces are cleaned with a soft cloth and diluted neutral detergent, and stubborn soiling with ethanol for disinfection. Solvents, oil-based pens and varnishes are to be avoided, as is contact with water. The simulator is stored in a cool place away from light.
