SKILLQUBE qubeCTG – CTG Simulation System for Obstetrics
SKILLQUBE qubeCTG – CTG Simulation System for Obstetrics
SKILLQUBE's qubeCTG is a tablet-based CTG simulation system for obstetric training. It displays fetal heart rate and uterine activity in real time on a monitor iPad while you steer the course of events from a separate control unit – from a normal trace through to a complex birth complication.
Because the system is not tied to any particular model, you can combine it freely: with a patient simulator, with a birthing simulator or with a simulated participant. This makes the CTG the trigger for the decision – your team has to interpret the trace itself and derive an action from it, instead of being handed a finding.
Who is the qubeCTG for?
- Delivery suite and obstetric teams
- Midwifery education and midwifery science
- Continuing medical education in gynaecology and obstetrics
- Interprofessional team training with anaesthetics and neonatology
- Simulation centres and in-situ training that need a mobile system
What can the qubeCTG help you train?
- Interpreting the CTG – baseline, variability, waveforms and contact quality
- Recognizing deceleration patterns as an indication of fetal hypoxia
- Assessing the maternal vital signs in the context of the CTG
- Training decision-making up to the indication for an emergency caesarean section
- Recognizing artefacts and poor signal quality instead of jumping to a wrong assessment
- Working through complete obstetric scenarios from a normal course of labour to a complication
- Training communication, documentation and handover via the notes function
- Practising the interprofessional team sequence with anaesthetics and neonatology
- Turning your own cases from your hospital into self-created scenarios
What does the qubeCTG bring to your everyday training?
- Control unit separate from the monitor: you steer the scenario unobtrusively while the team sees only the monitor – the prerequisite for the trace, and not the instructor, triggering the decision.
- Everything adjustable during the running scenario: baseline and variability for fetal heart rate and tocogram, waveforms, contact quality and the scenario speed.
- Scenario speed: you compress a course of labour that takes hours in real life into the length of your exercise – and pause it for the debriefing.
- Three pre-installed scenarios and a scenario library from the simple case to the complex birth complication.
- Create, name and edit your own scenarios – with a briefing as well as files and media attached directly to the scenario.
- Maternal parameters in the same view: temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation alongside fetal heart rate and tocogram.
- Mobile and model-independent: usable with a patient simulator, a birthing simulator or a simulated participant, including online device management.
Configurations
- qubeCTG Basic: qubeCTG software, shock-resistant hard case with carry handle plus outer and front pocket, monitor iPad and control unit with protective cover, adult blood pressure cuff with connecting cable, adult SpO2 sensor with cable, CTG belt
- qubeCTG Premium: the same equipment, but with a trolley with shelf and basket instead of the hard case
Frequently asked questions about the qubeCTG
Do I also need a birthing simulator?
No. The qubeCTG works on its own and can equally well be used as a pure CTG exercise. For complete scenarios you combine it with a patient simulator, a birthing simulator or a simulated participant.
Which parameters can I change during the scenario?
Baseline and variability for the fetal heart rate and the tocogram, waveforms, the contact quality of the recording and the speed at which the scenario runs. In addition, the maternal vital signs can be adjusted and notes can be stored on the monitor and the control unit.
Can I create my own scenarios?
Yes. Alongside three pre-installed scenarios, you can set up your own cases, name and edit them and attach a briefing as well as files and media. This allows real cases from your hospital to be turned into repeatable training.
What is the difference between Basic and Premium?
The way they are transported. Basic comes in a shock-resistant hard case with a carry handle and is suited to training at changing locations; Premium is supplied on a trolley with a shelf and basket and is intended for permanent use in the simulation centre or the delivery suite. The software and accessories are identical.
Does the qubeCTG also display the maternal values?
Yes. Alongside the fetal heart rate and the tocogram in grams, the monitor shows the mother's temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation. This makes it possible to train the relationship between the maternal condition and the baby's wellbeing.
